Initial Thoughts

Before we even laid a finger on the buy button for some CBD flower from Secret Nature, they were sending all the right signals. Top notch photography, premium packaging, easy-to-navigate website, great product descriptions, 100% organic and rave customer reviews. Oh, and their lab results for each strain are front and center. Yes, we heard some grumblings about price around the web, but hey, we've found you often get what you pay for. We were more than curious to find out if Secret Nature's Frosted Kush could possibly live up to the hype and price point.

The Five Senses (10 out of 10)

As soon as you pop the top on your hermetically sealed can or preroll tube, Frosted Kush is in your face. As they say, this hemp is loud. This flower smells every bit the real deal. We found ourselves entranced - going back to the container again and again entranced. As you'll come to find, we believe smoking hemp from a bowl just tastes like varying shades of campfire. But, vaping this Frosted Kush is super smooth. There is a sweetness and gassy taste to this mellow smoke, which we very much came to enjoy. Definitely not as harsh as other flower we've been trying.

Curb Appeal (10 out of 10)

The pictures looked top shelf and our nuggets look like they came straight from the photo shoot. Pristine, frosty buds hermetically sealed for freshness with minimal nonsense (stems, etc). Between the smell and the appearance, you could put this on a dispensary shelf and no one would know that they were getting a product with less than .3% THC. Moisture content was on point and we love that we could choose to hold onto the sealed can for a bit without worrying about the hemp drying. What more can we say? Secret Nature id one of the standard bearers in the appearance category for craft hemp, in our opinion.

Potency (7.5 out of 10)

Clocking in at 19.5% CBD content and 22.4% total cannabinoids, Frosted Kush is on the middle-upper end of the spectrum of CBD potency. Since terpene content also plays a role, we can't judge the potency on CBD alone. Not the highest, but it's up well up there. On the THC front, Frosted Kush comes in at .048%. That's nowhere near the legal limit of .3%, so Secret Nature is not pushing the boundaries trying to max out THC content, which can be good or bad depending on your perspective. The flower does outpunch it's potency weight class with nearly 1% myrcene content (find a couch to melt into) and .65% beta caryophyllene.

Effect (9.0 out of 10)

Well, this is climbed to the top of the pile quickly. Welcome to cloud 9. The effect of Secret Nature's Frosted Kush is hard to capture in words. It is actually a little slower than most to kick in, but once it does, wow is it pleasant. The numbing sensation starts as a light effect throughout the body - nothing crazy. We had an ever-so-slight head buzz, but as we said before, the THC content is tame. For those of you that smoke regularly, the head effect is between a Remedy and an ACDC for us. After our 2nd round of vaping, though, a nice numbing sensation really kicked in at the base of the neck, we felt a heaviness behind the eyes, the overall cooling sensation deepened and our body felt like it was melting into the sheets right before bed. The next day, we woke up feeling absolutely great. Well played Secret Nature.

Price (6.5 out of 10)

At $40 for an 1/8 oz, $75 for a 1/4 oz, $145 for 1/2 and $250 for an ounce, this flower is priced at the ultra premium end of hemp flowers. Now, to put that in perspective, our roots are in the CBD oil world. Buying an 1/8th at $40 means you're getting CBD at $.059 (5.9 cents) per milligram. That would be on the low end of price-per-milligram with CBD oil and you could get it down to 4.5 cents per milligram buying an ounce. But, most people are comparing to other flower companies so we're going to do the same. Yes, you get 1/8s for $10-$20 cheaper elsewhere. Do they stack up to Secret Nature's quality? We'll see. In any case, Secret Nature is known to run 20% off sales often. Watch for one and stock up on this insanely good flower.
