Initial Thoughts

In case you’re not familiar with Beleafer, let us introduce you. Beleafer is a smaller CBD vendor that specializes in high quality, exotic flower and other alternative health products. Until recently, Beleafer focused on outdoor flower, but they have begun growing and selling small batch, indoor buds grown in living soil. Despite their size, Beleafer is punching above their weight class, having built a large and overall very positive reputation in the hemp flowers community. On that basis, we were very excited to try one of their newer indoor strains – Remedy x Blossom.

Bag Appeal (9.5 out of 10)

Right when we opened the bag of this Remedy X Berry Blossom, we got hit with a very pleasant and pungent funk. The loudness of this strain is comparable to the BaOx flower from WNC CBD and Abacus Diesel from Hemp Hop. The aroma is a sweet and earthy, with some pine and citrus mixed into a complex muskiness. To the eye, this flower looks absolutely incredible – probably top 3 visually as of writing this review. The buds are dense and robust, with a heavy coating of trichomes all over. This flower has lime green calyxes and darker green sugar leaf. The frostiness is right there with Frosted Kush from Secret Nature. All of this is contrasted by an almost hair like covering of orange pistils. Beautiful!

User Experience (8.5 out of 10)

After taking one hit from a bowl packed with this Remedy X Berry Blossom, we looked at each other and smiled. The smoke has a sweet, berry taste that is true to the name, and that sweetness lingers in your mouth even after smoking it. This smoke reminds us of the smell and flavor of a Swisher Sweet cigarillo. It stays smooth enough for most of the session, though it did get just a tad harsh with the last couple hits. To be fair, that happens to a lot of flower as it dries out and heats up. Believe it or not, this might be a better smoking experience than it is vaping. The vapor still retains the sweetness in the flavor, but is rich and kind of hot. The density of the flower makes for some nice, big clouds. Overall, a solid experience.

Potency (8.0 out of 10)

Beleafer does post clear and concise lab results for all of their strains on the product pages on their website, which is great.  We would love for them to take it one step further, though, and include the terpene report that most vendors provide. That said, we did receive the mandatory letter to law enforcement, which is a plus. This Remedy X Berry Blossom comes in at .59% total THC, a mid range amount and enough to get the job done. The total CBD content comes in at 15.32%, a respectable amount that is sure to satisfy most needs. Combined, the Remedy x Blossom has a respectable potency.

Effect (9.0 out of 10)

The onset of effects on this strain came on pretty quick, which we love. It’s not the absolute fastest, but quicker than average. Our experience started with a tingle and numbness in the top of the brain and scalp, which then manifested into a deep relaxation of the neck and shoulder muscles that made us melt into our seats. Before long, we felt our muscles literally fighting off the relaxation and our joints cracked and eased up. This is a very physically comforting strain. Out reviewers did not note too much of a head effect. We felt relaxed, warm, maybe a little slowed down, but mostly clear headed and able to focus on (and enjoy) whatever we were doing at the time. This is a perfect “Netflix and chill” strain, one that we will keep around for evenings in front of the tv.

Price (8.25 out of 10)

Part of Beleafer’s reputation has been their customers’ ability to get good quality flower for less than average prices – until recently. Since they have started to grow and sell indoor flower, Beleafer has doubled their prices on the newer stuff. Now, they still do have the outdoor flower for reasonable prices, but the disparity in the cost for the indoor and the regular outdoor might be a bit hard to swallow for some. We have mixed feelings, as we think it important for the grower to be paid for the time, effort and the money they put into their product. At the same time, we love when the average person doesn’t get priced out of the best quality flower. All that being said, we were completely impressed by this strain and there is no question it belongs in our top 10!

Initial Thoughts

Beleafer has a good reputation in the hemp user community as a budget vendor with better-than-average outdoor flower for reasonable prices. They seem to pride themselves on having unique and hard-to-find strains more so than the typical hemp retailer. The company recently added a fewindoor strains to their lineup, grown in-house, which we love to see. Beleafer’s Remedy x Blossom strain was the first strain we tried and it instantly hit our top 10 list, so we couldn’t wait to dive into their Sour G CBG .

Bag Appeal (8.0 out of 10)

Before we even cracked this open, we had an idea of what to expect. CBG flower typically does not have much terpene content and, thus, doesn’t usually have any kind of a pungent smell. This did not differ from that norm. Putting our noses in the bag, there isn’t much to be smelled.  We did detect a slight pine smell accompanied by the typical grass and hay smell of CBG flower. This isn’t anything particularly wrong with this flower, that just how CBG dominant strains present themselves. The buds themselves look much better than they smell, with a nice coating of milk-white trichomes all over and a very light green overall appearance. The nug structure is pretty solid compared to most CBG, with fluffy calyxes and some foxtail stacking coming off of them. The trim job could be tighter, but looks better than it is because of the nice sized calyxes and bright frosty trichomes. CBG naturally has a low moisture content, so the buds feel drier, and are not very sticky at all.

User Experience (7.5 out of 10)

Smoking this flower was pretty typical of CBG, just like the smell. It has a slight sweetness to the smoke, but mostly a standard hemp taste. This isn’t distinct to this variety or Beleafer CBD, CBG just typically doesn’t have much terpene content and therefore usually lacks in the taste department. The smoke is of average smoothness, with a little bit of bite in the throat but nothing terrible. The vapor is also lacking in any kind of taste, but it is much smoother to get down. “Fresh” is how we described the little hints of taste that we did get.

Potency (7.5 out of 10)

Beleafer provides a full lab report online with the product descriptions, but doesn’t include a physical copy with the shipment of flower. This isn’t a deal breaker, but is something we like to see.  Beleafer’s Sour G CBG registers no detectable CBD, 14.6% CBG, and .16% total THC. CBG strains are usually low in total THC, which is part of the very “clear-headed” effects most people get from it. Unfortunately, there are no terpene reports from Beleafer to explore the flower further and we hope they will start providing those in the future.

Effect (7.5 out of 10)

In case you’re new to CBG, it doesn’t have the normal effects as the typical high-CBD flower. CBG is much more clear-headed and works behind the scenes. That’s exactly what this did for our reviewers. The effects are pretty much all in the head unless you have some kind of pain or inflammation, which CBG makes quick work of. We didn’t have any to mention, so we just a felt slight chill in the head, with a pinpoint tingle behind the forehead and a slight feeling of relaxation. Overall, run of the mill CBG effects from this strain.

Price (9.25 out of 10)

Beleafer CBD is known for their reasonable prices, so we have no complaints in the price department. They sell this strain for $15.40 an eighth, or $59.60 an ounce. There are always cheaper options out there, but we consider this a very fair price for decent quality outdoor flower. If you’re looking for an introduction to CBG and don’t want to break the bank, this is probably a great option for you.
