Initial Thoughts

Savage may not be the biggest name in the CBD world just yet, but they have caught the attention of online publications such as Yahoo, Forbes, and Buzzfeed, which piqued our interest. Their website is clean and well organized, offering CBD products by price, user experience level and in targeted bundles.  Savage CBD aims high, stating on their website that they “…strive to help people by offering what we believe to be top quality, lab tested, natural alternative at affordable pricing”. We obtained several Savage products to see how they measured up to that statement and were excited to try their Full Spectrum Softgels.

Taste (10 out of 10)

It might seem strange trying to talk about the taste of these capsules, as softgel capsules have no taste whatsoever. That said, we feel that is one of the main advantages of a softgel versus, say, an oil.  No taste and no aftertaste will come as a welcome change for many an oil user. The great thing about these softgels is that you can take them with you anywhere you go, delivering on-demand CBD relief with just a bit of water to wash them down. If you are one who finds the grassy taste of hemp unpleasant, capsules are a great alternative.

Delivery (8.5 out of 10)

When it comes to delivery, the capsules are medium-sized and therefore getting them down is relatively easy. Most people will have no problem pocketing these capsules for use on-the-go and as-needed with a small drink of water. Each capsule contains 25 mg of CBD, so your dosage is measured for you – no need to guesstimate the amount in a dropper.  The drawback versus a chewable edible is that you’ll have to dose in 25mg increments vs. selecting an exacting amount.

Potency (8.0 out of 10)

One Savage CBD capsule delivers a commonly used dose of 25 mg of CBD. While it is certainly not the highest dosage out there, given that there are products that have 30mgs or more of Full Spectrum CBD per capsule, it is enough to provide a solid effect and control your desired dosage. Also, though fairly obvious, you can also choose to double up if you need to. This dosage size is especially useful if you prefer to take multiples of 25mg – ramp up the potency with multiple capsules if needed or desired.

Effect (7.5 out of 10)

Our review team agreed that the Savage capsules de-stressed the day, as one would hope. We felt some lethargy once the capsules fully kicked in, which suggested to us that this is a good product for evening/night time use. This is not to say this is a positive or negative effect. It really just depends on your personal preference and intended usage. If you are looking for a CBD product that can help calm your nerves and cause you to relax, then this is a great option. It is possible to use this product to help you get to sleep, so easing into a lethargic state just before bed is seen as a positive  in our eyes.

Price (9.0 out of 10)

Full Spectrum CBD Softgels come in 2-packs. You can get the 8 count, which costs under $35, but the better deal can be found on the 30 count, which costs about $90. That works out to 4.7 cents per milligram, which is one of the lowest prices we have seen. This is a remarkable price for a quality product, especially recognizing that capsules are usually the more expensive CBD products.
