Initial Thoughts

To some, it may feel somewhat random as to which companies and products we review. But, if you read through enough of our posts, you’ll know that we’re looking to cut through the noise and find products we can trust. That usually means companies that are on a mission rise to the top. Revel Valley fits the bill. Not only did we see their P10 strain pop up repeatedly in top recommendation lists, but their story seals the deal. Grown in Oregon? Good start. Living soil and no pesticides? Excellent. The owner started the business because he doesn’t trust anyone else to grow what he and his family need? Done deal. We placed an order and couldn’t wait for the highly touted P10 strain to hit our doorstep.

The Five Senses (8.0 out of 10)

When we popped open our pouch of P10, we were greeted with what we would describe as scents of pine, earth and fruit. It’s not the loudest flower by any means, but it is fresh smelling for sure. As the nuggets hit the grinder, the scent was amplified and we couldn’t wait to get it in the vaporizer. Overall, the smoke was super pleasant, mellow and easy to vape. It reminds us of toasting a flavorful hop – a familiar but unique taste that was enjoyable and had us reaching for an IPA. Of all the flower we’ve tried, this probably has one of the more unique tastes, which is a good thing. Just a touch more time on the cure would probably mellow it out even more.

Curb Appeal (9.0 out of 10)

Look at the picture above. Look again. Most flower does not look like this. MASSIVE buds, frosty all around, perfectly photogenic. What is most impressive is the colors of these nuggets. We’re talking deep purple hues, orange trichomes and varying shades of green all over the place. Really, this is a stunning flower from Revel Valley. This is what you might call a Fruity Pebbles look. From a moisture content standpoint, this was not nearly as dry as Grumpy Grandpa from Fields of Hemp, but not quite as sticky as Remedy from Berkshire CBD. The presentation of this flower more than makes up for being just a touch drier than it could be.

Potency (7.5 out of 10)

Revel Valley P10 clocks in at 15% CBD content, which puts this strain smack dab in the middle of the spectrum of CBD potency. Touted for it’s sedative effects, we were actually most interested in the terpene profile, though, which we will get to in a minute. When it comes to THC, P10 comes in at .05% delta 9. That’s not pushing anywhere near the legal limit of .3%. Depending on what you’re seeking, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. But, in our view, the terpenes matter a lot more than the THC content. Unfortunately, while Revel Valley does publish their Certificate of Analysis showing CBD and THC content, they do not have the P10 terpene profile up on the website (which we would recommend and many others do). If we had to fathom a guess, due to the sedative nature, this flower is likely packing a decent percentage of some combination of myrcene, linalool, beta-caryophyllene, nerolidol or comparable terpenes. Tell us your secrets, Revel Valley!

Effect (9.0 out of 10)

Well well well, what do we have here? This flower is taking a run for consideration in one of our top spots as it lived up perfectly to the hype. While the effects are a little slow to onset, they are awesome for a bedtime strain. We wouldn’t use this during the day, even though there were almost no head effects, because the sedation is for real. We felt a chilled relaxation, which was lighter than Frosted Kush but still great, throughout our body. Our reviewers were quickly beset with heavy eyelids after our session – much more so than any other strain. We can’t quite describe how relieving that can be for someone suffering not being able to sleep, but it was just what we needed. Amongst our relaxed, chilled and sedated state, we fell quickly into a deep sleep. The next day, we woke up feeling refreshed and relaxed. This is exactly what you look for in an evening CBD flower and deserves a top score.

Price (9.5 out of 10)

Revel Valley’s P10 will run you $20 for an 1/8 oz, $35 for a 1/4 oz, $55 for 1/2 and $80 for an ounce. This is an absolute steal. On top of that, we were able to snag some during their 50% off blowout sale. I mean, for the quality of this flower, you don’t need to shop anywhere else if Revel Valley is running a sale on P10. Frankly, you probably don’t need to shop at too many other places even when they aren’t running a sale. Even under the normal pricing, which we expect will return, this pricing is on the low end of the spectrum, especially for the quality. When you buy an 1/8th at $20, you’re getting CBD at $.038 (3.8 cents) per milligram. Incredible deal. The more you buy, the more you save. Buying an ounce will drop the per-milligram price to 1.9 cents. 1.9 cents! It’s not an unheard-of price, but it’s remarkable relative to the quality. Seriously, for all of the reasons we’ve listed above, do yourself a favor and pick up some P10. This one is an always-in-the-stash keeper.
