Pure Hemp Botanicals 250 mg Chocolate CBD Mints
CBD edibles in a mint form – what’s not to like? As we have found with most CBD suppliers, the Pure Hemp Botanicals (PHB) website makes it clear that they are serious about quality and health, in addition to making a convenient product. There is lots of good information and lab results are available for any product that you buy from PHB and we decided to start with their mints.
Taste (6.5 out of 10)
We chose the chocolate flavored CBD mints (strawberry-mango flavor is also offered). If you’re looking to satisfy a chocolate urge, the taste isn’t exactly what you’d hope for. But it was decently chocolate-like in the same way that a protein shake approximates chocolate. The more mints we had, the most we got used to the taste. It’s not unpleasant, just unexpected to start. The hemp taste typical of CBD oils was downplayed and masked by the chocolate flavoring, making this an easy and pleasant method of quickly administering some CBD.
Delivery (8.5 out of 10)
Ingesting CBD in the form of mints makes for an easy, no-mess experience. If you’re looking for something you can pop on-the-go, this product will do the trick. Dosage can be controlled in increments of 10 mg per mint, making it simple to zone in on your preferred dose. The PHB website claims faster action than oils, as the CBD is absorbed directly through the mucous membranes under the tongue. Based on our review, we couldn’t find a reason to disagree. The mints were quick to dissolve. The only downfall on delivery is that dialing up a larger dose requires more mints than you would normally eat.
Potency (7.0 out of 10)
Dosage can be regulated by the number of mints eaten, making this a fairly straightforward task of zoning in on the right potency. One mint isn’t going to do much for you, but you can quickly hone in on your desired potency level. We attempted to approximate the dosage we have been using for our CBD oil reviews, and felt that the potency of the mints compared well with that of the oils. The main knock on potency is that one mint (unlike many CBD edibles) is only 10 mg. Again, nothing wrong with the product, but you’re going to ingest more mints than necessary.
Effect (7.0 out of 10)
The effect is entirely dependent on the number of mints you chew. So, the 7.0 rating here is really a middle ground between us acknowledging that one mint will not be enough (in our opinion) and the ease of getting to the desired effect with more mints. We felt the effects of the mints soon after taking them, although it is difficult to quantify whether or not the CBD mints produced a faster effect than oils. We are inclined to take PHB at their word that this is a quicker means to getting the job done. In any case, the effects were as hoped for, and we would recommend these mints as a good choice for those who don’t want to mess with oils.
Price (7.0 out of 10)
Pure Hemp Botanicals mints are priced on par with CBD oils in a comparison of milligrams per bottle. One bottle has 25 mints containing 10 mg each, for a total of 250 mg’s. Priced at $24.95, that’s about $.10/mg, which puts this product in the middle of the expected price range for CBD products.
