Initial Thoughts

Similar to MTN CBD's Cheddar Fish, we were excited to see how their CBD Trail Mix stacked up against the real deal. MTN creates a range of CBD edibles and CBD oils. The company clearly has an eye for branding, as the packaging exudes a premium quality feel, as we pointed out previously. We were certainly curious if the taste of this CBD Trail Mix could match up with some of our favorite trail mixes. Interestingly, MTN CBD infuses melatonin into their nighttime blends. We weren’t sure how the melatonin would play, but here’s what we found:

Taste (10 out of 10)

Again, a perfect 10 on taste for this CBD trail mix! The trail mix from Vita CBD tastes exactly like trail mix you might find in a store. We don’t give out perfect 10s often, but you could literally mix this CBD trail mix into a bag from the grocery store and no one would be able to tell the difference. For us, not tasting any hemp and being able to enjoy a salty, sweet snack ranks these CBD edibles right up there with the best from a taste perspective.

Delivery (9.5 out of 10)

Similar to any trail mix you buy at a grocery store, this CBD edible treat is just as convenient and easy to consume. Grab a handful and pop it on the go, anywhere you are. Unlike oils that you have to awkwardly drop sublingually, you won’t feel weird pulling out this trail mix in public. We knocked off a half of a point for the slight residue you’ll get on your hands. But, just like the Cheddar Fish, it doesn’t get much better than this to get your daily dose of CBD.

Potency (8.5 out of 10)

With only 25 milligrams in a package, you wouldn’t expect us to give this product an 8.5 on the potency scale. Typically, 25 mg in one package would be very middle-of-the-road for potency. However, the melatonin in this product is the wild card, as we mentioned in the Cheddar Fish review. We didn’t know exactly what to expect when we first consumed the product, but man, that meltonin hits – especially in combination with the CBD. Yes, you will be more sleepy / sedated than a pure CBD product. It’s up to you to decide if that’s what you’re looking for. But, with the melatonin added, 25 mg of CBD felt like 75mg with this product.

Effect (8.5 out of 10)

Shortly after consuming our CBD trail mix, both the CBD and melatonin kicked it. Yep, it felt like nap time. We powered through, but the effect is one of both relaxation and sleepiness. If you’re looking for something to take the edge off in the evenings and ensure drowsiness before bed, this trail mix is your product. If you’re looking for something to take in the morning that relaxes but doesn’t sedate, this is probably not your product. In any case, the effect cannot be denied.

Price (4.5 out of 10)

The only real drawback to this product is the price. As we survey the CBD oil and CBD edible landscape, we’re getting a good feel on what is an appropriate price-per-milligram on CBD. The original price of this CBD Trail Mix is $11.95. We, luckily, got our pack on sale at $7.95. Either way, that puts the price-per-milligram of CBD between $.32 and $.48 per milligram.
