Initial Thoughts
When we first saw Irwin Naturals’ product line, we were struck by the sheer variety of their offerings. A 26 year history of market-leading supplements and vitamins brought them to the CBD world, where they have applied that knowledge and experience. It became clear to us that their approach to CBD products is to specialize in various formulations targeted to achieve specific results. And, there are quite a few formulations! Add this to the supplements they offer and the other brands under their umbrella (Nature’s Secret, Flo-Chi) and it seems there is something for everyone at Irwin Naturals. We were excited to give them 1000mg unflavored oil a test drive.
Taste (7.5 out of 10)
Our review team had mixed reactions to the taste of this oil, but in the end we agreed that it’s a relatively pleasant tasting unflavored oil. We do appreciate Irwin embracing the natural flavor (read: grassy) of hemp and not trying to mask it too much. If you like the natural taste of hemp, you’ll find this to be a good choice, with no strong aftertaste to linger in the mouth. There is a peppermint flavored oil available, but we did not try it for this review.
Delivery (8.0 out of 10)
Irwin Naturals uses a standard dropper for their oil delivery method. Our repeat readers know that we are not wild about droppers, but we recognize that it is pretty standard, and our score here reflects that. We’d like to see the dropper imprinted with volume markings to help in gauging the desired dose, but that’s a minor thing. The oil itself is slightly dark and very smooth, a medium weight consistency that is pleasant to hold in your mouth.
Potency (8.5 out of 10)
At 1000mg per 30ml, this product delivers a lot of cannabinoid potency for whatever reason you are using CBD. Generally speaking, a dropper is going to pull around 1ml of oil, so with each dropper full, you’ll get about 33mg of CBD. This offering from Irwin Naturals is potent enough that most people won’t need more than a dropper worth. Effect (7.8 out of 10)
We tried the 1000 mg oil for this review, which puts it in the upper end of what we consider a middle range concentration formula. As expected and hoped for, the effect was noticeable in very short order. This oil won’t knock your socks off, but certainly does the trick. The 1 ml dose (33 mg) that we used brought us speedy results, and our reviewers reported the desired calmness and focus that stayed with us throughout the day. We liked what Irwin delivered and we look forward to trying more offerings from their product line.
Price (9.5 out of 10)
Kudos to Irwin Naturals! They have managed to offer a great quality CBD oil at one of the lowest prices that we have seen. At $42.99 for 1000 mg, you are buying this nice oil at 4.3 cents per milligram. That is pretty unheard of in the CBD oil realm. However they manage to produce a quality product and offer it at this price, we hope other brands will take note and make CBD a more affordable option for all. This is a great deal and makes it easy on your wallet for this oil to become a part of your daily regimen.
