Initial Thoughts
Cheef Botanicals CBD isn’t one of the most known hemp brands out there, but with their clean presentation, professional website, and simple – yet catchy – packaging, we think they’re on the right track. Aside from flower, their website is nicely put together and thoughtful, featuring hemp flower, vape cartridges, edibles, oil tinctures, topicals, and more. Cheef Botanicals is truly a one stop shop for your CBD needs. The cherry on top is that our Hawaiian Haze, the subject of our review today, came in a glass jar with a child-proof lid, which is a nice touch for those of you with children.
Five Senses (8.0 out of 10)
Upon opening the child-proof, premium jar, Cheef Hawaiian Haze greeted us with a pleasant, earthy smell. We noted citrus tones, with lemon being the most prominent, followed up by the distant aroma of pine trees. If you’ve smoked Cannaflower’s Lifter, this had a similar vibe. Breaking down the flower with our grinder, we unleashed more of this same smell, albeit more intense. When smoked, it had a mild diesel (gassy) taste to it and smoked smoothly in a hand pipe. Vaping the flower produced a bright, yet mellow, earthy vapor with a tad bit of harshness at the end.
Bag Appeal (7.0 out of 10)
This Cheef flower looks similar to the Bubba Kush from Hemp Hop. It has that nice “Fruity Pebbles” look, with splashes of different colors. We noticed small amounts of bluish and purplish calyxes (the swollen parts that make up most of a bud) intermixed in military green sugar leaf. For more color contrast, the pistils are dark, almost red, in color. This flower is moderately covered in crystals. Nothing to write home about, but more trichomes than average. This flower was a little broken up when we opened it, with a fair amount of shake, which took away from the presentation. The trim job on this leaves something to be desired, too. We suspect that maybe some of the sugar leaf was intentionally left on, but it definitely could be tighter.
Potency (8.5 out of 10)
At 16.4% CBD, this Hawaiian Haze from Cheef Botanicals CBD has a respectable potency. This would be considered upper-middle levels of CBD when compared to the other flower on our list. Delta 9 THC comes in at less than .3%, as is required by law. Total THC is .62%. At roughly 16% effective CBD, this flower not the most we’ve seen, but it’s far from the lowest CBD content. Combined with the entourage effect of complimenting terpenes in the flower, it should definitely provide ample and noticeable relief.
Effect (9.0 out of 10)
This flower definitely makes up for the lackluster trim job with its quick acting and long lasting effects. We noticed a calming relaxation in the muscles, looseness in the back and a chill roll in behind the forehead. We could feel that head chill expand with every hit. If you’ve played Super Mario and powered up from small Mario to big Mario, the effect of this Hawaiian Haze is like that. After using Cheef Botanicals flower, the energy and increased focus lifts you up mentally and physically. This is definitely a daytime strain, appropriate for use when you really want to get something done without sedation. The kicker for us is the fact that these effects are long lasting. The head chill and tingle fades away first, but the energetic focus sticks around. Awesome!
Price (8.75 out of 10)
The initial appearance and less than stellar trim on this flower gave us pause at the outset of our Cheef Botanicals reviews at the $25 an eighth price point. After all, you can get hand trimmed indoor for the same price. However, the potently energizing and long-lasting effects changed our tune and confirmed the old saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” The fact that we got two bowls worth of effects from one bowl really stresses that one can get their money’s worth with this Hawaiian Haze strain from Cheef Botanicals CBD. The price point may be slightly high for what it is, but there’s no denying that if you want a fast acting and effective sativa strain, you won’t be disappointed with this Cheef Botanicals Hawaiian Haze.
